In my re-telling of “The Black Dahlia”, I wanted to visually piece together the various viewpoints of the source story to create a new view of this story. This was the perfect project to explore the frame of narrator -and how it might visually and conceptually shape the narrative. The premise of the sequence is as follows; blurring the two narrators of the story (the author James Ellroy and his fictional creation, detective Bucky Bleichert from 'The Black Dahlia'). The sequence begins with the two voices blurred to appear as one - but gradually diverge in the middle of the sequence - to reveal the twist that there are actually two speakers. The sequence was symmetrical in structure, the twist occurs in the middle, and ends with the two speakers' stories merging back into one grand narrative.
